Stu and his older brother started taking guitar lessons in 1962. Shortly after the Beatles appeared on Ed Sullivan on Feb 9, 1964 his brother hocked the guitar they had shared for a Beatles jacket and left Stu without an instrument for several years. He finally got another guitar and taught himself to play.
During his career as a PGA golf professional, he continued to play guitar and sing, mostly solo, while living in Indiana, Minnesota, Naples, FL, and Virginia. In 2005, he and his wife Nancy sold their golf course in Virginia and moved back to Florida with their children Jackson, James, and Abigail.
When Stu found himself spending more time playing guitar and singing than hitting golf balls, he began looking for a band to play with. After playing with a couple other groups, he joined "Lenny and the Jets" and is now a part of "The Sundance Band ."
